Step To Credit Repair

1. Your first step is to get your credit report.

2. Examine it closely against your own records. If you spot errors confirm this with the creditors reports. Have them send you a copy of account balances and payments. 

3. The Fair Credit Reporting Act requires credit bureaus to make corrections; it doesn't require creditors to make corrections. 

Therefore your next step is to contact the credit report agency.

4. If after a reasonable amount of time the agency makes no corrections report this to agency superiors. If there is still no action taken prepare for a legal exchange.

5. Keep a log of calls made to the creditor and credit reporting agency. Write down who you talked to, the time you called and the details of the conversation. 

7. If you have to deliberate in court wield your meticulous record-keeping as a way of substantiating your complaint. Those with good records and arguments are most likely to win the case.
